Leilía was formed in 1989 by six women who set out to rescue a forgotten Galician oral tradition, in which scenes from working life feature in hundreds of songs. Set to the sound of tambourines, the results are plain to see, thanks to the unique nature and beauty of music “rooted” in Galician soil, at times looking out towards the Atlantic, at other times with clear connections to Celtic culture.
